The Glascock Family

Continuing a Legacy of Excellence at UNA

For the Glascock family, UNA is a tradition. Taylor, a junior in the College of Education and Human Sciences, followed in her parents’ footsteps as a UNA alumnus. Though initially resistant to the idea of attending her parents’ alma mater, Taylor soon fell in love with the campus and its community during college fairs and visits to family in the area. “Even in Nashville, we still had UNA come visit, and they were always just the most welcoming and nicest,” Taylor said.

Her involvement in the Honors College Mentor Program and a sorority has provided her with countless leadership opportunities. “I’ve met like hundreds of people through [those] and gotten close with a surprisingly large amount of them… and it makes it feel so much more like home,” she explained.

Taylor’s parents expressed pride in her accomplishments. “Last semester, she took 18 [credit] hours, was a [Cole Honors College] Mentor program leader and got a 4.0 [GPA],” Linda shared.

As alumni, the Glasocks love seeing the growth and changes at UNA. “Being able to see a lot of old friends that are still engaged with UNA culture; we’ve got history with national championship teams,” Daryl explains. “But to see the growth in programs and in athletics, the connection with the town and the city… it’s pretty impressive, and it’s a lot of fun to come back to.”

For Taylor, UNA has become more than just the place her parents once called home—it’s a community where she is building her own path, discovering her strengths, and creating a college experience uniquely her own.
