MacKenna Gosart always knew she wanted to help people, and her dream of becoming a physical therapist began at a young age. When she discovered UNA during a service project at age 12, she fell in love with the university and never looked back. Majoring in Exercise Science with a concentration in Pre-Professional Studies, MacKenna found the perfect fit for her career goals.

The hands-on learning opportunities at UNA, especially in the kinesiology lab, have been invaluable in preparing MacKenna for physical therapy school. From VO2 max testing to clinical internships, UNA’s Exercise Science program has given her real-world experience that sets her apart from other students.

The support MacKenna received from her professors, especially Dr. Waldman, helped her stay motivated and confident in her abilities. The personalized attention and encouragement she received made all the difference as she prepared for her next steps in physical therapy.

For MacKenna, UNA has become more than just a place to get an education—it has become her home. The strong sense of community, the support from professors, and the hands-on learning opportunities have made her experience truly special. As she prepares to enter physical therapy school, MacKenna feels confident and ready for the next chapter, knowing that UNA has provided her with the skills and experiences she needs to succeed.

MacKenna’s dream is to return to the Shoals area after physical therapy school and work in a pediatric clinic. She’s excited about the future and grateful for the support and guidance she received from UNA. Her journey is a testament to the impact that a supportive, close-knit university can have on a student’s success, and MacKenna is proud to call UNA her home.
